Keep a space equal to about two thirds the thickness of the carpet between the walls and the tack strips using a scrap piece of carpet as a guide.

As a rule of thumb make sure to install the tack strip for the carpet about 1 4 to 3 8 inches from the edge of the tile. Position the strips with the tack points facing the wall. Pull the carpet over the top using a knee kicker. Start with a clean area.
